The Malta Boxing Association (MBA) wishes to express its profound gratitude to the leaders and all the members of the European Boxing Union, especially the new President Mr Peter Stucki who has shown support in the Malta Boxing Association since its affiliation in 2015.
The granting of ‘host city’ is a massive privilege for any Organisation.
The Assembly focused mainly on the organisation’s ability to strengthen unity, promote peace, build stability, uphold unity and encourage further development of medical protocols and standards.
The hosting bid was won last Saturday 4th June 2022, at the annual general meeting held in the great city of Rigia, Latvia, with great anticipation for the Malta Boxing Association, led by the President Marc James who spearheaded this project since the beginning of the 2022.
“The European Boxing Union will celebrate its Platinum 75th year as an organisation and we could not be happier with our chance to host the most prestigious organisation in boxing”, said the MBA’s President Marc James.
Malta’s success in winning the bid is a great triumph for Malta and James personally; “We rejoice in Malta being chosen as host for 2023 EBU’s annual general meeting, as boxing is a European passion that has reached all corners of the world and it helps to bring people closer together.” Continued James. He also noted that European Boxing Union and its member states enjoy excellent and friendly relations based on mutual trust, understanding and cooperation.
The President of the Malta Boxing Association said that it will be his endeavour to lend greater strength and substance to the platinum year of the EBU, and he looks forward to working towards the hosting of the World Boxing Council Sotto Federation, The European Boxing Union in Malta next year.
Once again, the president and the Board members of the MBA wish to extend their sincere gratitude to the EBU Board and its new President and the boxing fraternity in Europe for trusting the Malta Boxing Association to host them in Malta in 2023.
